Overview:

The Business Master File Modernization (BMF Mod) program is crucial for modernizing the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) tax processing systems. As a Java Application Architect, you will play a key role in supporting the IRS IT Application Development and IT Enterprise Service organizations to achieve the goals of the IRS IT Modernization Business Plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, integrate, test, and deploy a modernized BMF platform
  • Support day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) work based on IRS priorities
  • Manage projects, developments, enhancements, and legislative changes
  • Validate solutions with clients and project teams
  • Implement modernization strategies like refactoring, containerization, cloud integration, and API enablement

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience with Architectural frameworks
  • Proficient in Java application programming and migration
  • Experience in developing physical and logical architectures
  • Knowledge of modernization approaches

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with mainframe data structures and formats
  • Understanding of IBM Z systems technologies
  • Proficiency in Java Message Service, Core Java, Spring, Microservices, and more

Other Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Java and mainframe programming
  • Knowledge of z/OS, Cloud Technologies, and Application analysis tools
  • Effective communication skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
