Job Description

The City of Lake Worth is looking for a skilled individual to join as Assistant Director of Public Works. This position does not involve bargaining and offers an annual salary ranging from $99,995 to $124,993, based on a 40-hour work week. The role is located at the Public Works building in Lake Worth, FL.

Summary

The Assistant Public Works Director oversees the City's day-to-day operational needs, including project management, compliance inspections, and involvement in Emergency Management operations. Responsibilities also include managing construction programs for various city projects and working closely with different city departments. Candidates will work with a high level of independence and report to the Director of Public Works.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive budgets for operational and capital expenses
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan city development projects
  • Analyze financial data and ensure budget compliance
  • Supervise engineering projects and maintenance activities
  • Coordinate with different city departments and prepare reports for City Commission
  • Manage employee performance, conduct evaluations, and handle HR tasks
  • Oversee project design, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints from various stakeholders
  • Attend public meetings and collaborate with civic groups

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must have extensive knowledge of Civil Engineering principles, project management, and construction practices. The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field and possess a minimum of five years of experience in Public Works, including supervisory roles.

Language Skills:

Proficiency in English is required, and bilingual abilities are advantageous.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A valid State of Florida Driver's License is mandatory, and NIMS certifications are required post-employment.

Physical Demands:

The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and outdoor work.
