As the team lead coordinates the clinical laboratory licensing program; evaluates and approves initial and renewal facility license and registration applications including out- of-state (OOS) clinical laboratories seeking to perform clinical laboratory tests and examinations on human specimens originating in California to determine equivalence with California clinical laboratory standards. Reviews and updates section policies and procedures and creates a streamlined process for clinical laboratories operating under a California-approved accrediting organization. Works with the team lead of the Proficiency Testing (PT) program to evaluate PT information regarding participation and performance of licensed and unlicensed clinical laboratories to determine compliance with state and federal standards. Works with program staff to enable them to provide customer service and provide technical assistance by responding to complainants, the regulated community, the legislature, the governor's office, the public, the media, and other. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. The Examiner II is cross trained to perform facility licensing duties.
