Position Summary
The Cardiovascular Imaging Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring optimal patient care through the coordination of cardiac CT and MRI services. This position involves monitoring image quality, collaborating with healthcare professionals to refine imaging protocols, and developing educational and research initiatives to advance cardiac imaging practices. By operating sophisticated diagnostic equipment and fostering strategic partnerships, the Cardiovascular Imaging Coordinator enhances patient care and supports operational efficiency within the cardiac imaging department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates care for cardiac CT and MRI patients within the cardiac imaging team, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Monitors image quality and collaborates with physicians and technologists to refine image acquisition and post-processing protocols. Develops, coordinates, and implements educational programs on cardiac imaging; evaluates their effectiveness to enhance provider and staff proficiency. Assists with research projects aimed at advancing cardiac imaging knowledge and practices. Fosters partnerships with community and regional healthcare providers to improve cardiac imaging care processes. Operates advanced x-ray equipment and performs specialized diagnostic procedures, including dynamic and specialized scans of various body parts. Utilizes HIS computer system for recording procedures and maintains proficiency in specialized image processing software and PACS systems. Troubleshoots technical issues effectively, working closely with IT personnel. Plans, directs, and evaluates the work of personnel involved in cardiac imaging operations. Ensures adherence to safety rules, regulations, and infection control policies. Participates in on-the-job training and department inservice programs for new equipment and advanced techniques. Performs other related duties as assigned.
License/Certification
Current CT or MRI certification required. Valid Florida State license as a radiology technologist is required. Employees hired BEFORE 2/1/17 must obtain required CT and MRI certification through the ARRT by Employees hired AFTER 2/1/2017 who have completed training must obtain their required certification within six months of hire for each modality; a total of twelve months allowed.
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience of cardiac tomographic imaging experience.
Education
Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required. Skill : Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to Job Details Summary Page 1 of 2 March 19, 2024 exercise sound and independent judgment. Work Environment/Physical Demands
Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers. Exposure to various environments such as communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment. May also be exposed to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases, X-Ray, chemical exposures and other potential hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment.
