Job Description:
This position utilizes substance use disorder expertise to perform psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, education on substance use disorders, crisis assessments to appropriately provide needed resources and or referrals for the patient, and to provide family, individual, and group treatment as indicated.
The counselor works collaboratively with patients, patient's significant other, families, healthcare providers, insurers, community resources, and all other involved parties.
As a Certified Addiction Counselor you need to know how to:Provide a safe and collaborate therapeutic environment to assess patient motivation, readiness to change and assist patients in the development of skills and behaviors to enhance functioning to the highest level of independence
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, through the use of various individual and group treatment modalities
Carry a caseload of 6-8 patients
Provide group therapy
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and Certified Addiction Counselor level II
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience
Preferred
Master's degree in a mental health or related field
Certified Addiction Specialist or licensed in mental health (LAC, LCSW, LPC, LPCC, SWC)
At least five (5) years of relevant work experience
Physical Requirements:
Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
