The Radiation Therapist role is vital in the healthcare field, involving providing radiation therapy to patients following a physician's prescription.


Responsibilities:

  • Verify and administer prescribed doses of SRT radiation to specific sites as directed by the Dermatologist.
  • Position patients accurately for treatment according to the prescription.
  • Enter data into the computer, operate equipment, and adjust dosage controls as needed.
  • Independently conduct treatment sessions under the physician's guidance.
  • Assist in lesion localization, simulation, and documentation.
  • Document and photograph treatment areas, checking for any side effects and reporting to the Dermatologist.
  • Prepare custom protection devices for patients' treatment.
  • Educate and reassure patients and families, addressing questions and providing support.
  • Perform daily warm-up and QA of the SRT machine.
  • Follow radiation protection principles for patients, oneself, and others.
  • Complete assigned duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Regionally Accredited Program for Radiation Therapy, with ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy R.T. and state licensure when applicable.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities, with good attendance and punctuality.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team.

Required License or Certification:

  • RTT Board Certification
