Description

Responsible for initiating, coordinating, and managing all investigational and evaluation activities associated with professional and general liability occurrences and claim pre-litigation files.

Negotiates resolution with authority from the Vice President of Medical Affairs.

Provides basic and complex preventive risk management assessment of processes, procedures, and programs, including in-service education, consultation, and liaison activities on cases. Has full access to patient health information.

Responsible for developing strategy and improving patient safety by working collaboratively with senior leadership, clinical leaders and frontline staff to measurably reduce patient harm/errors.

Ensures the development of surveillance systems to identify and mitigate potential harm and ensures timely submission of all organizational responses related to patient safety, root cause and serious event analysis activities

Responsible for administering the risk management and patient safety programs on a day to day basis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Hospital Administration or a degree and current licensure in a clinical field (RN, RT, etc.)
  • At least four years experience in one or more of the following fields: patient care, public policy, health care administration, business administration, and/or legal support insurance/claims investigation and settlement.
  • Associate in Risk Management or certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management desired.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and business software (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Excellent analytical skills.
  • Essential Physical Requirements
  • Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work well under stressful conditions and be able to handle a variety of work situations and meet deadlines.
