A Respiratory Therapist CRT/RRT Opportunity at UPMC

Full-time Day Shift Position
- 8-hour shifts
- Every other weekend
- AFSCME union member

Current offering includes a SIGN-ON BONUS for full-time Respiratory Therapists:
- $12,000 for 0-1 year experience with a 2-year commitment
- $15,000 for 1+ years experience with a 2-year commitment

Purpose:
Providing respiratory care services to patients using approved techniques and equipment, maintaining equipment, and participating in education and orientation programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform arterial punctures and capillary punctures.
  • Administer bedside pulmonary function tests.
  • Administer medical gases and treatments like IPPV, IPPB, aerosol, etc.
  • Maintain and operate equipment, perform quality assurance tasks.
  • Assist in staff education, orientation, and competency reviews.
  • Evaluate potential equipment purchases.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and adapt care to different patient needs.
  • Maintain department procedure knowledge and participate in improvement programs.
  • Assure equipment readiness in different care settings.
  • Manage blood gas laboratory supplies.
  • Adjust staff levels as needed to meet patient needs.
  • Administer aerosols for sputum induction.

Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- Completion of an AMA-accredited respiratory therapy program and registry exam.

Experience: Not required

Abilities:
- Works independently under supervision.
- Seeks guidance when necessary.

Licenses and Certifications:
- CPR certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program completion
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
- Various clearances as per regulations
