Candidates should not only have excellent teaching and interpersonal skills but also possess a deep understanding of developmentally appropriate curriculum, a passion for working with early elementary students, and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Lower School Second Grade Classroom Teacher should have:

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct, differentiated instruction for students, focusing on 21st century skills like collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving.

Evaluate student growth in the core elementary disciplines.

Implement instructional strategies and use clear and consistent classroom management in concert with the schools core values and philosophy.

Identify, select, modify, and create instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and learning needs, in collaboration with grade level teammates.

Use classroom management systems that are focused on students social emotional needs.

Provide a positive environment in which students are able to engage actively in meaningful learning experiences.

Communicate and partner effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals on a regular basis.

Model professional and ethical standards when working with students, families, and colleagues.

Essential Qualifications:

Education Bachelor's required, Master's preferred

Experience working with children

A positive can-do attitude and growth mindset

A love for working with children and young people

Desirable Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree

Experience in a classroom setting
