Department Summary

Position Summary


The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is accountable for assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of world-class strength and conditioning programs that are aligned with the individual performance goals of student-athletes and will help them attain optimal sports performance.

This includes research and design of a program to deliver agreed objectives based on evidence-based practice, as well as the application, instruction, and evaluation of the program's impact and culture.


This position will assist in the operation of the weight room and implementation of individualized conditioning, strength, speed, and flexibility programs for football as well as other assigned student-athletes.

They will also assist in the return to performance process in close liaison with the medical team for the rehabilitation of injured players.


The Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach will assist in the preparation of comprehensive reviews and feedback on training outcomes, with evidence-based recommendations for areas of responsibility to performance staff.

They will adopt a problem-solving approach to optimizing performance.

This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conference, and NCAA.

This position reports to the Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Special Requirements

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain UO driver's certification within 90 days of employment and maintain it throughout employment with the Athletic Department.
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience in the provision of strength and conditioning support to NCAA Division I athletes (or comparable level) and their coaches to improve performance.
  • Experience serving the needs of diverse populations.
  • Current National Strength and Conditioning Association certification (CSCS) or (CSCCA).
  • Experience with strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of strength and conditioning for high-performance athletes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in kinesiology, athletic training, sport or exercise science, or a related area specializing in the physical preparation of elite athletes.
  • Experience working in a Division I, power-5 conference.
  • First Aid Certification.
