The Coder II is responsible for reviewing and analyzing documentation present in the medical record for cases to assign ICD 10 CM diagnoses and CPT 4 procedures based on the documentation in the medical record. The Coder II has advanced knowledge on all coding guidelines and Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association.Job RequirementsEducationRequired: High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience

Preferred: 1-2 years related experience

SkillsMust have the analytical ability to interpret data contained in medical records and assign appropriate codes for accurate reimbursementExpert knowledge in CPT (Outpatient Procedure Coding), and ICD-10-CM (Outpatient Diagnosis Coding) classification systemsExpert knowledge of APC reimbursement and CPT 4 ModifiersExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectivelyDemonstrates competency with use of computers and various computer programsVisual acuity necessary to read and decipher handwriting and electronic documentationLicensure/Certification/RegistrationRequired: One of the following credentials: AHIMA: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS OR AAPC: CPC, CPC-A, CIC, COC or COC-A
