LPN - Surgical Oncology 9E- Night Shift

Here's some essential information about this position:
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current unrestricted licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing or the relevant state board where services will be provided as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Attain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of the date of hire.
- West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal check, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
- CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct patient care as per the patient's care plan or as directed by the Registered Nurse to enhance comfort and facilitate the patient's return to good health.
- Offer direct patient care to all assigned patients promptly for their comfort and hygiene.
- Perform specified therapeutic procedures for assigned patients as necessary.
- Observe, record, and report patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress accurately and promptly.
- Assist physicians and the Registered Nurse with examinations and procedures as delegated.
- Use available resources efficiently to help manage patient costs.
- Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting and reporting data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in developing the patient's care plan by providing information, identifying priorities, and aiding in maintaining comfort and human functions.
- Assist in educating and rehabilitating patients and families as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Document nursing interventions and responses to care efficiently and liaise with the healthcare team as needed.
- Deliver patient care within the assigned shift following the nursing process and within the role's scope.
- Administer medications safely and accurately as designated, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, and oral medications.
- Hold accountability for all care provided and delegated to other healthcare providers, seeking guidance from the Registered Nurse when necessary.
- Consult with the Registered Nurse for assistance or guidance in providing nursing care when required.
- Receive appropriate instruction and supervision from the Registered Nurse when implementing nursing techniques.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy/Hard work: The role involves physical demands like strength, stamina, lifting, stooping, reaching, patient positioning, standing, walking, and carrying patients, materials, and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
- WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The job environment involves working closely with others, potentially during irregular hours, around biohazardous materials, infectious diseases, with or near deceased individuals, wet conditions, and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
