Job DescriptionJob DescriptionScion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Temporary Staff Accountant for a well-established luxury hotel that prides itself in providing an exquisite guest experience just South of Manhattan Beach. This is a full-time, 6-month temporary opportunity that offers an on-site work environment with an experienced, outgoing team.

As the Staff Accountant, you will work collaboratively with a talented accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting while a member of their team is on leave

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process financial transactions for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expenses.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts to ensure financial record accuracy.
  • Assist in creating financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) with a focus on luxury hotel metrics.
  • Participate in developing the hotel budget, including forecasting revenue streams.
  • Analyze variances between budget and actual results to identify spending trends.
  • Follow internal controls to safeguard hotel financial assets and prevent fraud.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and tax laws.
  • Collaborate with other departments on financial matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting with a preference for candidates in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, Microsoft Office 365 (specifically Excel)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks
  • Bachelorâ?TMs degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other related field

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This career opportunity provides a starting hourly pay of $35.00 to $38.00 DOE, plus medical, dental, vision and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week.
