Role Overview:

In this position, you will collaborate with a consortium of Vizient healthcare systems that have combined their purchasing power to realize substantial cost efficiencies. As a strategic sourcing leader, you will spearhead the development of top-notch contracting strategies and performance enhancements through autonomous decision-making, resulting in lowered supply chain expenses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently oversee a collection of cross-disciplinary contracts, employing advanced negotiation techniques to handle intricate contract terms and conditions; formulate portfolio strategies by gathering input from member committees or task forces.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize Vizient's pricing structure, improve existing national agreements, and craft customized deals on behalf of the consortium.
  • Analyze financial data, market trends, and insights from subject matter specialists to devise contract strategy recommendations; conduct ongoing price assessments and contract maintenance using Vizient's benchmarking tools to evaluate the relevance and pricing competitiveness of existing agreements.
  • Keep team members and stakeholders informed of project status, updates, and potential risks, including leadership, and offer suitable resolutions and advice.
  • Lead the bidding process and create Request for Proposals (RFPs); in alignment with member input, collaborate with suppliers on specific terms, conditions, and pricing to secure value that aligns with market standards.
  • Present cost-saving initiatives and contracting progress at consortium gatherings.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, as well as internal and external clients across all product and service categories; mentor others to do the same.
  • Conduct meetings and relay information on opportunities, progress, achievements, and obstacles to Vizient's leadership team and critical customer stakeholders; foster collaboration to enhance processes, outcomes, and deliverables based on feedback.
Requirements:
  • A relevant undergraduate degree is preferred; possessing an advanced degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in contracting, contract management, or supply chain roles is essential.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Strong aptitude for building relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrated competence in project management.
  • Prior experience in health care contracting with a successful track record in negotiations is highly desirable.
  • Preferred background in leading and overseeing purchased services initiatives.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage competing priorities in a dynamic, high-pressure environment focused on results.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
