Job Description

The role of Director - Operations Business Support involves strategically leading programs and corporate initiatives for Claims within the Operations division. This includes managing and resolving Claims-related inquiries and issues in a timely manner. Collaborating across different functions is essential to improve end-to-end processes for Claims initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering ideas, facilitating, and implementing process improvement initiatives throughout the business to ensure optimal member engagement and experience. This position primarily focuses on supporting the Claims area, covering tasks such as front-end suspense, complex adjustments, project work, system support and enhancements, as well as cross-functional communication and planning. Additionally, the role includes responsibility for vendor relationships related to claims processing.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, health care administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a complex industry like insurance or financial services.
  • Prior experience managing enterprise-wide programs/projects, leading teams, and overseeing full program lifecycles.
  • Strong skills in resource management, critical thinking, workflow management, and relationship management.
  • Proven track record of effective communication, mentorship, collaboration with executives, and successful change management efforts.
  • Ability to balance industry expertise with business acumen to generate innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence others effectively.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and skilled in change management.
Preferred:
  • Experience in Process Improvement and/or Business Project Management.
  • Prior experience leading technical teams or managing contracted resources.
  • Knowledge of SAFe/Agile methodology.
Additional Information

a. Provide strategic direction and leadership for a team supporting Wellmark's strategy and goals, ensuring value addition and service differentiation.

b. Lead financial and human resource duties, with a focus on coaching, development, and performance improvement for multiple staff and department-specific functions.

c. Oversee large-scale system integrations and strategic investments, ensuring successful deployment and business outcomes.

d. Provide leadership to Operations technical team, ensuring system sustainability and successful outcomes.

e. Develop and implement business readiness plans for programs, monitoring and updating progress against strategies.

f. Drive business and change aspects for complex program implementations by ensuring organizational readiness and change management activities.

g. Supervise the resolution of enrollment, claims, and customer service inquiries, collaborating with various stakeholders for successful business operations.

h. Lead continuous process improvement efforts to streamline business processes effectively.

i. Ensure compliance with business process controls and regulatory requirements.

j. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
