Role Impact at Cardinal Health

The Pharmacy Operations team oversees the safe and efficient coordination of pharmacy services for various healthcare facilities, including hospitals, oncology and cardiology practices, and retail customers.

Nuclear Pharmacy is tasked with supplying radiopharmaceuticals and other medications to medical providers under strict State and Federal regulations; additionally, they may offer guidance to physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the proper use of radioactive drugs for treatment purposes. Requires appropriate licensing.

This Apprentice role in Nuclear Pharmacy involves training as a pharmacy technician, progressing towards pharmacist responsibilities.

Key Duties

Working under the guidance of a licensed Nuclear Staff Pharmacist, the Nuclear Pharmacy Apprentice supports high-tech pharmacy services by preparing, dispensing, and distributing quality radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and dispensing radiopharmaceuticals per prescriptions and regulatory guidelines
  • Offering follow-up services to clients or healthcare providers as necessary
  • Assaying medications for identity, purity, and potency
  • Conducting white blood cell labeling
  • Recording daily elutions, kit preparations, and inventory data in the computer system
  • Verifying physical inventory against computer records
  • Maintaining lab equipment through routine checks and tests
  • Performing other tasks to ensure a safe and efficient pharmacy operation

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience preferred
  • 2 - 4 years of work experience desired
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required
  • Must be at least 18 years old due to driving company vehicles
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and hours as needed

Pay rate: $21.20 per hour
