Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Technicians will provide support to the Environmental department.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Soil, stormwater, surface water, and groundwater sampling and delivery to laboratory.
  • Vegetation and rangeland monitoring, spring monitoring, or other field surveys.
  • Assist with contaminated soil and/or water recovery and disposal.
  • Assist with soil and/or water remediation efforts including seeding, weed management, etc.
  • Assist with calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of automated environmental monitoring equipment, including the installation of such equipment.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of erosion and stormwater pollution controls to comply with regulatory permit requirements.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies necessary for samples and surveys.
  • Groundwater well readings, piezometer, and pressure transducer data collection.
  • Assist with environmental compliance inspections of work areas and job sites, including air opacity inspections.
  • Data collection, data entry, quality control and record maintenance.
  • Maintain work area, records, prepare reports, and perform other administrative activities as necessary to meet compliance requirements.
  • Assist with an evaluation of sampling and quality control plans, provide comments, and assist with development of procedures to ensure plans are implemented successfully.
  • Use of electronic data management and compliance reporting software.
Employee will be responsible for ensuring conditions of employment; employee policies; and safety protocols are followed. Employee will be required to work both in a team environment and independently. Employee must be self-motivated and organized.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • Associate degree in Applied Science, Environmental Technology, Natural Resources, Biology, Ecology, Hydrology, or related field preferred but may substitute relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of GIS, GPS, and navigation
  • Previous mine site experience a plus
  • Knowledge of permitting and regulatory programs a plus
  • Experience with data management and scientific writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills
