Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer

As the Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer at ACCIONA, you will play a pivotal role as a Project Engineer, serving as the expert on Regulatory matters. You will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for our portfolio of renewable energy facilities in North America. This role entails a comprehensive understanding of Bulk Electric System regulations and mandates, with occasional travel required for the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Operations Engineering department to ensure adherence to regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Review and validate compliance-related documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with construction teams and external partners for post-construction testing.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining internal policies, processes, and guidelines to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with NERC and regional reliability standards.
  • Ensure compliance with designated regulatory reliability standards and requirements.
  • Track and oversee Operations Engineering activities related to NERC Reliability Standards and market regulations.
  • Evaluate potential modifications to NERC Standards and provide recommendations.
  • Offer regulatory and technical expertise to address and resolve compliance issues.
  • Handle responses to internal and external data requests, audits, and regulatory alerts.
  • Conduct independent research and analyses to support regulatory projects and initiatives.
  • Propose innovative approaches to streamline regulatory processes and address non-compliance issues.
  • Review engineering work at renewable energy facilities to ensure alignment with regulatory and manufacturer specifications.
  • Review deliverables from third-party providers related to engineering studies, testing, and maintenance plans.
  • Organize and maintain company and compliance-related records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with management to estimate compliance-related costs for annual budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (will count towards experience).
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (preferred).
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) (preferred).
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in utility or power plant operations and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide training on complex operations.
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe operational environment.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (e-mail, Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to represent the company professionally in external interactions.
  • Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time domestically and internationally.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Holder of or ability to obtain a Passport.
