V2X is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join our government customer team at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River in Patuxent River, MD, supporting servers, workstations, and peripheral devices in a critical DoD network environment.

This role requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will handle cybersecurity analysis, IT support, and apply DoD security controls to operating systems and applications as detailed below.

  • Manage multiple Linux server-based information systems.
  • Offer Systems Administrator support for setting up, configuring, and maintaining high-performance computing (HPC) clusters with Linux or Unix based OS to meet RMF and JSIG requirements for digital engineering efforts.
  • Execute various systems administration and life cycle management tasks to sustain IT networks as directed by the Government IT Lead.
  • Provide hardware and software recommendations, conduct testing, manage configurations, establish back-up and disaster recovery procedures, and define hardware/software requirements in compliance with RMF/JSIP, Rev 4
  • Identify and schedule IA-related repairs in the network environment.
  • Deliver IA-related customer support functions, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and training for the network environment following customer needs.
  • Analyze system performance to detect potential security issues.
  • Conduct vulnerability and compliance assessments using ACAS and STIG's.
  • Perform patching activities for flaw remediation purposes.
  • Administer Assured File Transfer (AFT) capabilities across classified networks, adhering to documented policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a Backup and Recovery solution for all information systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IA issues based on customer-reported incidents.
  • Collaborate with other teams to assist in hardware and software infrastructure installation.
  • Develop, update, and maintain diagrams, inventory, guides, and maintenance logs.
  • Create task plans and schedules, providing status updates as needed by the Government Program Manager.
  • Report daily issues such as network outages, system failures, or noncompliance with government regulations to cybersecurity staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with IS security laws and regulations to maintain functional operations in the network environment.
  • Support COMSEC network devices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in IAT Level II network enterprise (NE) knowledge and skills.
  • Experience with Linux Server environments.
  • Minimum of 6 years as a systems administrator.
  • Hold DoD Approved Baseline Certification as Information Assurance Technical Level II in compliance with DoD M/8140 (e.g., Security+ CE & Vendor certification or IT Training Provider certificate for main OS).
  • Understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Joint SAP Implementation Guideline (JSIG).
  • Familiarity with Windows server-based OS's is beneficial.
