Job Title: Sr. Database Compliance Analyst

Location: Dallas, TX
Weekly Hours: Full-Time (30 hours/week or more)
Hours of Day: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm CST

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Sr. Database Compliance Analyst to ensure the security and compliance of our database environments. This role involves hands-on technical work, policy implementation, and collaboration with various teams to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access and breaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement security controls to protect data, networks, systems, and services.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments on database systems.
  • Review vendors' certifications and compliance periodically.
  • Provide guidance and training on database security to staff.
  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
  • Lead the design and configuration of database and operating system security controls.
  • Ensure data protection measures align with Board policies and relevant laws.
  • Monitor access to sensitive data in compliance with PCI, CJI, and other standards.
  • Collaborate with ITS teams to maintain security best practices.
  • Develop standards for operating system and database configurations.
  • Implement encryption controls for Data-in-Transit and Data-at-Rest.
  • Manage a database compliance reporting framework.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in database administration, IT security compliance, and risk management.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Linux/Windows Operating Systems and Oracle/Microsoft SQL database servers.
  • Skilled in shell script programming, SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Knowledgeable about industry standards and regulations (e.g., CIS Benchmarks, GDPR, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, NIST
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Adaptable to new technologies and changing security landscapes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in database administration, IT security compliance, and risk management.
  • Experience with data security for PCI, CJI, and HIPAA.
  • Audit experience.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53, encryption technologies, and firewalls.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, operating systems, system services, communications protocols, and network configuration.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, Oracle DBA, or Microsoft SQL/Azure data services certification.

Special Requirements:

  • Must obtain a SIDA Airport Identification/Access Badge within 30 days of employment and maintain qualification for renewal.
  • Must complete Cyber awareness training within 30 days of employment.
  • Must pass a national fingerprint-based background check for Criminal Justice Information access within 30 days of employment.
