YMCA of the Suncoast - James P. Gills Branch

Rate of Pay: $13.00/hr - $13.35/hr

Shift: Looking for a soccer coach for the following schedule:

  • Tuesday nights from 5:30pm - 8:30pm
  • Thursday from 5:30pm - 7:00pm
  • Saturday 8:30am - 1:30pm

Aligned with the YMCA's Mission and under the guidance of the Program Director/Coordinator, the Sports/Swim Coach will lead and instruct their team. Collaboration with assistant coaches is key to ensure strong team leadership.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential requirements include competence in administering a safe program, effective communication, problem-solving skills, and a good understanding of the local community. Various certifications are required within specific timelines post-hire to ensure readiness and compliance.

SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

The ideal candidate must have a genuine willingness to engage with youth, parents, staff, and volunteers. Good communication, safety awareness, and adherence to YMCA rules are essential.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds and may need to stand for extended periods while demonstrating stamina and agility.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Create a safe and nurturing environment, reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Maintain organized supplies and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and care.
  • Be responsible for equipment and report any issues promptly.
  • Adhere to safety standards, report incidents, and participate in meetings and orientations.
  • Engage parents in the program and encourage their involvement.
  • Teach sport basics patiently and positively.
  • Maintain attendance records and facility cleanliness.
  • Set up equipment before programs, review values weekly, and role model SMART pledge.
  • Ensure pool area and storage room are well-maintained.
