Minimum Education Level
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of a formal course of instruction appropriate to this skill level as outlined in Department
School, EOD at Eglin AFB or Indian Head, MD.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Three (3) years' experience in explosive ordnance recognition, handling, retrieval, and disposal.
(UXO) experience in range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operations.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Must be qualified/certified in accordance with Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board
Description of General Duties
Performs reconnaissance and classification of UXO. Identifies different types of military munitions, to
include identifying whether a military munition's fuze is armed or unarmed. Perform location of
subsurface UXO using military and/or civilian magnetometers. Performs excavation procedures on buried
UXO by manual and/or mechanical means. Locates surface UXO using visual means. Operates motor
vehicles transporting UXO and/or Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) that has
been determined safe to move to temporary holding areas or consolidated demilitarization areas, as
required. Assists in range clearance activities, range maintenance, and inspection and/or certification of
MPPEH and range related debris before being transferred or released from Department of the Navy
(DoN) control. Move/consolidate Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) and MPPEH on the range
after it has been evaluated by UXO Qualified personnel and the risk of movement to be acceptable. May
be required to prepare electric and non-electric firing systems for the demilitarizing MPPEH and/or
destroying of ammunition/explosives by detonation. Escort non-range personnel and subcontractors
conducting work on the range. Dons and doffs appropriate personal protective equipment. Erect UXO
- related protective works. Performs field expedient identification procedures to ID explosive-contaminated
soil. Demilitarize military equipment/vehicles for use as targets. Assist with the design and construction
of new targets for the Bombing Range. Performs operator maintenance of military and/or civilian
magnetometers. Be trained and qualified to operate locally assigned tools/equipment and heavy
equipment. Perform operator maintenance on locally assigned tools/equipment and heavy equipment in
support of Bombing Range Maintenance functions. Assists with the marking, tracking and documentation
of Material Documented as Safe (MDAS) and Material Documented as an Explosive Hazard (MDEH).
Will be operationally qualified at designated tech level in the Navy Qualification/Certification Program
within 90 days of hiring or promotion.
Citizenship and Security Clearance Requirements
US Citizen Secret Clearance may be Required

$37.00 per hour
