Purpose of the role:
Ardelyx is looking for a dedicated individual with integrity and passion to impact patients' lives significantly. Reporting to the Vice President and Head of Global Patient Advocacy, the Director of Government Affairs will lead and implement the company's government affairs strategy at state and federal levels, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Responsible for engaging with state governments in the Southern region and key stakeholders in Texas, Georgia, and New Mexico on policy matters.
  • Develops and executes strategies through lobbying and coalition-building to drive desired outcomes.
  • Leads public policy initiatives in partnership with national consultants.
  • Manages a team of consultants to deliver results compliantly.
  • Collaborates with various departments to ensure patient access to medicines.
  • Works with government stakeholders on patient awareness programs.
  • Provides input into the company's government affairs plan.
  • Identifies opportunities to advance business objectives.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years in pharmaceutical industry and government affairs or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong strategic planning and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 35%.
  • Pharmaceutical sector experience necessary.
  • Passion for patients, science, and public health.
  • Understanding of drug development process and regulations.
  • Knowledge of patient experiences in related health conditions.
  • Team player with excellent collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centricity and innovation.
