Clarification from the agencyDuties
  • The position is located in the Northwest Oregon District, Marys Peak Field Office
  • The advanced trainee ensures proper format, guidelines, and procedures for land use planning and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents
  • Assists senior planning specialists and interdisciplinary teams
  • Reviews and coordinates planning and NEPA documents within the team
  • Assists in determining level of detail, scope of analysis, and checks document quality
  • Provides assistance in developing public information for planning documents
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Background investigation and drug screening may be required
  • Must provide resume and supporting documents
  • Cannot hold active real estate license or have interest in firms with Federal Lands interest
  • New employees/supervisors in the Federal government need to complete a one-year probationary period
Qualifications
  • Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-05 grade level
  • Education: One year of graduate-level education or meet the qualifications for Superior Academic Achievement
  • Combination: Combination of education and experience that equals at least 100% of the total requirement
  • Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement
Volunteer Experience

Experience includes paid and unpaid work such as volunteer programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps)
Builds critical competencies, knowledge, and skills for paid employment

Must include months, years, and hours per week worked to receive credit for experience

Education

Submit legible copy of transcripts with name, school name, credit hours, major(s), and GPA or class ranking
If using education to qualify, official transcripts are required before starting work
Evaluation of foreign education programs by private organization may be needed for qualification
PASS/FAIL COURSES: Superior academic achievement claim based on class standing or membership in an honor society
GRADUATE EDUCATION: 18 semester hours considered as one year of full-time study if graduate school definition is unavailable
