POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Reports to the Adult Ambulatory Coordinator and/or to the Director of the Service and the Medical Director
  • Provides direct and indirect clinical services to adults in need of mental health care
  • Responsible for treatment of the client and provision of age-appropriate care
  • Core skills may include crisis assessment, intake assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, treatment planning, case management, team/community collaboration, patient/family education, and triage/discharge planning
  • May provide flexible coverage to another service within Behavioral Health on a short-term basis
  • Creates a caring and compassionate environment through Core Values of Teamwork, Communication, Respect, and Caring
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Requires a Masters degree and Connecticut licensure as a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with public passenger endorsement
EXPERIENCE:
  • Level of care and age-specific competencies are required
  • Training and/or familiarity with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), abuse and neglect reporting, duty-to-warn mandates, knowledge of community-based resources, and experience with pre-authorization and billing processes is preferred
COMPETENCIES:
  • Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong clinical skills, including a demonstrated team orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must be flexible in approach to meet service-specific and overall system needs
  • Ability to function effectively and independently in a multitasking environment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Actively participates in individual or group clinical supervision
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the impact of behavior on peers and clients
  • Conceptualizes and organizes data from a theoretical perspective
  • Demonstrates knowledge and respect for cultural differences in treatment approach
  • Generates and disseminates accurate clinical case formulation and information
  • Conveys warmth, genuineness, and empathy towards patients
  • Establishes shared sense of outcome and processes goals with patients
  • Coordinates with community providers, Department of Children and Families, Adult Probation, etc.
  • Assesses and revises progress and diagnosis as indicated
  • Completes all documentation requirements accurately and in a timely manner
  • Exercises good judgment in seeking help and acting independently
  • Facilitates skill development through careful planning and implementation of DBT groups
