Job Title: Geri Psych Unit Registered Nurse at [Company Name]
The role of a Registered Nurse in the Geri Psych Unit involves coordinating patient care services, administering and documenting patient care, contributing to patient care plans, and supervising CNA's and LPN's based on their skills. Additionally, it includes responding to patient, physician, and family requests promptly while ensuring Patient Rights are respected.
Responsibilities:
- Works with the physician and medical staff to assess patient conditions and develop individual healthcare plans.
- Keeps detailed records of patient assessments, medication administration, vital signs, and treatments.
- Participates in unit meetings, organizes work effectively, and educates patients and families on treatment plans.
- Educates patients with dementia, monitors care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants, and collaborates with team members.
- Administers medications, monitors effects, and follows proper procedures according to hospital policies.
- Admits, transfers, and discharges patients as necessary, overseeing the admission process.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Open to constructive criticism and feedback, maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, with at least two years of experience in healthcare delivery.
- Current licensure by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and CPR certification.
- Physical and mental capability to work closely with elderly patients and maintain confidentiality.
