ROLE SUMMARY:

Developlus is actively seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic Senior Formulation Chemist to lead our dynamic formulation development team. This pivotal role not only requires a deep understanding of cosmetic chemistry and hair color science but also a visionary leadership style that fosters innovation and growth. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to not only develop groundbreaking formulations but also to guide these formulations from prototype to full-scale production seamlessly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Spearhead the development of cutting-edge hair care and color formulations, setting new industry standards for quality and innovation.
  • Directly manage and mentor a talented team of lab technicians and junior formulators, fostering an environment of learning and professional growth.
  • Take the helm in scaling up prototypes to full-scale production, ensuring the transition is efficient, cost-effective, and adheres to the highest quality standards.
  • Lead both internal and external projects, coordinating with contractors and vendors to secure the best resources and materials for product development.
  • Ensure strict compliance with GMP and GLP standards in the lab, championing best practices in every aspect of the formulation process.
  • Collaborate with a diverse array of cross functional teams, from sales and marketing to quality and supply chain, ensuring product development aligns with market demands and company goals.
  • Develop and manage the lab's budget, strategically allocating resources to maximize innovation and productivity.
  • Drive the pursuit of patentable innovations, leveraging deep industry knowledge and analytical skills to keep Developlus at the forefront of the beauty sector.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry or a related field; an advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in cosmetic chemistry, with a specialized focus on hair care and color formulations.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership and team management, including experience in hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Extensive experience in project management, with the ability to lead both internal and external projects to successful completion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, and familiarity with Sage X3 or comparable ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate color theory into practical application within product formulations.
