Purpose of Position

The Associate Director of the First-Year Student Success Hub will work collaboratively with the Director to ensure excellence in advising and coordinated care for first year students.

The AD position will be responsible for successful implementation, management, and assessment of the First-Year Student Success Hub.


This role will serve as a central resource and point of contact for admissions in regards to student recruitment, orientation, and event programming.

They will be responsible for new advisor onboarding, as well as continuous advisor training.

This person will maintain and update the Hub's marketing and promotional materials and oversee the unit's website, and will assist the Director with the management of advisor caseloads.


In addition, they will serve as the direct supervisor for the Honors & Special Populations First-Year Advisor, as well as the Coordinated Care and Student Engagement Coordinator, and will carry out other duties as assigned with the evolution of the department.

There is the potential for this position to carry a small advising caseload.

Primary Responsibilities

Serve as main point of contact for Admissions, Orientation, and pre-college planning and help to oversee admissions-related and pre-college initiatives, programming, activities, and events for the hub, including coordinating the hub's role in orientation and campus activities

Supervise First-Year Honors & Special Populations Advisor and the Student Engagement & Coordinated Care Coordinator

Supervise peer coaches and peer leaders within the hub

Advise a caseload of students to meet the unit's needs

Train and onboard new advisors, and oversee on-going training strategies for the team.

Lead reporting and assessment efforts for unit

Maintain the unit's website and promotional materials

Assist with caseload management

Serve on committees as directed by the Director and other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Minimum qualifications include a Master's Degree with a minimum of five years related work experience and two years management experience.


A variety of academic programs could serve as an appropriate education background, including but not limited to education, higher education, management, statistics and counseling.


Detailed working experience with Qualtrics or similar survey program, and other innovative data gathering techniques/software is needed to support data informed decision making.

Experience working with student information systems,

SAP , Navigate,

SLATE , and Canvas are needed.


Applicants must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products and must be able to use technology to communicate effectively; strong analytical skills required.


Applicants must have experience with assessment processes, data collection, analysis, and reporting, and must be able to manage time and resources with little or no direction.

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
