Histotechnician

We are looking for a Histotechnician to join our team at LabCorp, a company dedicated to providing top-quality medical laboratory services. Come work in our Pathology laboratory in Portland, OR, alongside a highly skilled team equipped with the latest technology. Location: Portland, OR

Schedule: Monday-Friday 1:00AM-9:30AM

Shift differential: 3rd shift $2.25/hour

Responsibilities:

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination
• Perform technical tasks to produce histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section embedded tissue using a microtome and mount sections on microscope slides
• Conduct immunohistochemical tests on tissue sections
• Process tissue sections through staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare stains and reagents for special procedures
• Report accurate test results promptly for quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance
• Record equipment log data accurately
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Follow quality control policies and laboratory procedures
• Document and address issues affecting test performance as needed

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
• ASCP Histology certification preferred
• Ability to meet CLIA requirements
• Experience with histology procedures and equipment
• Immunohistochemistry experience is advantageous
• Comfortability with embedding large and small specimens
• Accurate reading of labels and documents
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment is a plus
• Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
