Join our team as a High School Band Director at Battle High School

This role involves overseeing the music education, classroom instruction, and activities for secondary instrumental band students. The Director will also be in charge of managing all aspects of the high school band program, including directing various ensembles like Marching Band, Concert Band, Brass Choir, Woodwind Choir, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Band. Additionally, there will be opportunities for students to take part in extracurricular activities such as solo performances and All-State Band.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Program performances with appropriate music.
  • Direct rehearsals and performances.
  • Prepare students for music festivals.
  • Design, teach, and coordinate the marching band program.
  • Manage the band budget.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with instructional support at feeder schools.
  • Advise and support band parent activities.
  • Supervise transportation for events.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Maintain inventory of instruments and music.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities.
  • Possibly teach other music classes.

Perform other duties as needed to support the school's mission.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To: Building Principal and Coordinator of Fine Arts

Supervises: None

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: Certified by the Missouri Department of Education; eligible for a Missouri teaching certificate in Instrumental Music.

Preferred: Master's degree, 3 - 5 years of high school band director experience, budget management skills, booster organization experience, and knowledge of relevant policies.

Ideal candidates have a professional demeanor, work well in a fast-paced environment, and are friendly and collaborative with others.

ADA REQUIREMENTS

Language: Read, analyze and implement various policies and regulations, curriculum data, write reports, and effectively communicate information.

Computation: Work with mathematical concepts and analyze data.

Reasoning: Solve problems, interpret instructions, apply educational theory, and demonstrate executive functions.

Other Skills: Identify student needs, establish relationships, and multitask effectively.

Technology: Integrate technology into instruction, utilize district software, and adhere to technology policies.

Physical Demands: Speak, hear, move around the classroom, and read material.

Attendance: Consistent attendance is vital.

Conditions: Work in active, occasionally outdoor, school environments.
