Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of an Accredited Radiography School
  • ARRT certification / eligible in Radiography (must become ARRT Certified within 6 months of hire)
  • Pennsylvania State Licensure (if applicable)
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire
  • Pennsylvania state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area


Core Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Rotates in all Diagnostic areas for development of technical skills (Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, Operating Room, Endoscopy, Orthopedics)
  • Performs image procedures based on assessment of the status of the patient, request of the service, and imaging protocols. Monitored by periodic image evaluations and supervision
  • Produces images of optimal quality by using imaging equipment and systems in the provision of image delivery and archiving
  • Select exposure factors based on patient's size, condition, and pathology resulting in optimal image quality, utilizing minimal radiation exposure
  • Minimizes radiation exposure to self, patients, and other staff by the use of shielding, collimation, application of the inverse square law, and minimizing repeat exposures
  • Engages in problem solving, crisis management, and performance improvements throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high quality, and cost-effective patient care
  • Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification
  • Completes all in-services and competencies by the required date and applies knowledge gained
  • Coordinates daily work flow effectively


Physical Requirements:
  • Differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a monitor
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Wear a lead apron for extended periods
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Carry items of up to 20 pounds


Working Environment:
  • Exposure to minimal radiation within national standards
  • Exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids
  • Operation of imaging equipment with automated moving parts


Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and Health Care Team
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with various situations simultaneously
  • Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques and manipulation of equipment
