Description

Summary: Utilizes trauma-informed, evidence based clinical interventions to promote healing and safety of the client. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking, writing and reading.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Receives and assesses intake calls from all clients to determine immediate safety and crisis needs.
  • Conducts in-person intake assessments to establish safety plans, identify case management needs, advocacy needs and readiness for therapeutic services.
  • Delivers and provides in-person individual and group counseling sessions using TF-CBT or other therapeutic interventions as determined by the needs of the client.
  • Facilitates in-person psycho-education groups.
  • Facilitates in person parenting classes.
  • Supports clients by attending court hearings.
  • Proactively engages non-offending caregiver in the treatment of the child(ren), to promote enhanced attachment, decreased symptoms, and improved safety.
  • Ensures weekly utilization rate is at or above agency standards.
  • Participates in scheduled individual client staffing meetings, team meetings and multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • Maintains case files and client notes in timely manner by entering client treatment plans, case notes, telephone consultations, referrals, and other into the Clients First database.
  • Conducts on-going communication with Program Director(s) and case managers.
  • Assists with adult intakes and counseling to ensure all clients are seen in a timely manner.
Other:
  • Maintains current licensure and/or certifications and group affiliations
  • Attends agency related domestic violence and ethics trainings
  • Participates in agency-related speaking engagements and educational opportunities.
  • Complies with the therapy program policy and procedures manual
  • Participates, assists and helps in the coordination of childrens holiday festivals, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge and experience working with victims of trauma, specifically adults.
  • Knowledge of the power and control wheel.
  • Experienced in the area of domestic violence.
  • Experience with individual counseling and group counseling.
  • Experienced at relating to adults through understanding, respect and skilled communication.
  • Ability to work independently, set goals and accomplish with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and agency confidentiality
  • Ability to work with a diverse client population.
  • Ability to follow proper safety protocols and agency policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the clients.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience (paid or non-paid) in a shelter or clinical setting working with victims of domestic violence.

Education: Appropriate full clinical licensure/certification to perform essential duties in the State of Texas (LCSW preferred, LPC, LMFT, PhD.) LMSW and LPCi applicants close to completing their supervision hours will be considered.

Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).

Working Conditions: Work must be performed in the agency office.
