OVERALL JOB OBJECTIVE: Foothills Regional Housing "FRH" is a prominent real estate developer, manager, and program administrator for affordable housing. FRH is currently looking for a Housing Inspector, as a housing inspector, you will leverage your passion for public service to help the agency's clients find affordable and ensure safe housing in great neighborhoods throughout the county. You will work closely with authority personnel, landlords, and organizations that have an interest in housing expansion. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedules all Housing Quality Standards inspections to include annual, initial, and special inspections.
  • Mails out all inspection-related correspondence to include appointments, no show, and abatement notices.
  • Communicate via email with tenants and landlords regarding the status of inspections.
  • Performs data entry of inspection results into HUD 52580 and prepares inspection booklet for tenant files.
  • Pre-screen or pre-inspect units in accordance with FRH policies.
  • Tracks all inspections to ensure the timeframe for completion and deadlines are met.
  • Prepares monthly reports of all inspection activities.
  • Attend all required meetings, both within FRH and in the community.
  • Outreach, engage, recruit, and retain landlords.
  • Coordinate the placement of program participants into housing.
  • Provide education, guidance, and resources to program participants in order to support their housing search and retention.
  • Conduct informational meetings with program participants and community partners.
  • Research and provide financial assistance opportunities (i.e. application fees, security deposits, first and last month's rent).
  • Stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in homeless services, Fair Housing, affordable housing, and supportive housing.
  • Assist in the development of new housing opportunities and partnerships to benefit program participants.
  • Conduct housing consultations with program participants.
  • Deliver training to staff and program participants in the subject areas of landlord retention, landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Be an active advocate for both program participants and landlords.
  • Cross training with other departments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, and advanced proficiency in Excel and online research.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license required
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions quickly under deadline pressures, and tolerate risk.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of entities and people
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1 year of housing or human services-related experience is preferred. YARDI experience a plus. PAY RANGE: $21.15 to $26.92 / Hourly BENEFITS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Physical Demands: The position is 80 percent based in community in tenants homes, outside conditions for brief period of time and driving in all weather conditions. In the office it is primarily sedentary but requires the ability to move boxes or items weighing a maximum of 20 pounds; positioning oneself to maintain files in filing cabinets; ability to operate personal computers and office equipment; ability to observe documents and record and interpret information; ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange information in these situations.
  • Work Environment: 80 percent in communities, in tenants homes, 20 percent in office setting.
  • Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including but not limited to personal computers, scanners, calculators, printers, telephones, fax, and copy machines. Position does frequently use iPad, voltage meter, and thermometer.
