The Opportunity
Columbia-Greene Community College is seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Director to lead our forthcoming Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program, which is currently being developed and requires approval from the Office of the Professions in the New York State Education Department. The LPN curriculum is designed as an evening-weekend option with the intent for the program to begin in January 2025. The successful candidate will hold a master's degree in nursing and be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York. This key leadership position involves oversight of the LPN program, oversight of LPN faculty members, and the teaching of courses to develop the next generation of nursing professionals. The successful candidate will be available to begin as soon as possible at the conclusion of the search process.
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing.
- Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of New York.
- At least 3 years of experience in nursing education, preferably in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of LPN curriculum development and accreditation standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of ATI is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Oversight:
- Lead and manage the LPN program, ensuring compliance with state and national accreditation standards.
- Develop and implement program goals, objectives, and policies.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making data-driven improvements as necessary.
- Prepare and manage the program budget.
- Conduct regular program evaluations and prepare reports for accrediting bodies and institutional leadership.
- Collaborate with the RN Nursing Chair, the dean, and the provost to advance academic priorities.
- Participate in the faculty selection process, as appropriate.
- Recruit and oversee LPN faculty members.
- Work with the Office of Academic Affairs to ensure the schedule meets student needs, including the ability to complete the program in a timely manner.
- Work with the Office of Academic Affairs to prepare and submit SUNY/State Education documentation.
- Work with the department to ensure clinical placements and sites are coordinated.
- Represent the LPN program at conferences, workshops, and other professional events.
- Provide academic advising and support to LPN students.
- Promote student success through effective teaching strategies and by fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Address student concerns and issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
- Teach courses within the LPN program, ensuring high-quality instruction and student engagement.
- Update existing program and course curriculum. Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies, technologies, and curricula while developing new instructional materials and techniques to meet the changing needs of students.
- Assist with the management of student learning outcome (SLO) creation and assessment
- Support new and existing local business partnerships that serve the best interest of our students.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to enhance instruction, curriculum, student success, and student completion.
- Participate in the development and/or selection of course materials, equipment, technology, and distance education that will enhance offerings of the department.
- Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
- Serve as a member of department, division, and college committees.
- Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs in a timely manner.
- The college offers day, evening, and online classes. Faculty may be required to teach a class in the evening, on weekends, or online.
Salary and Benefits Information
Annual 12-month salary $70K.
