Maintenance Mechanic

OBJECTIVE:
The role requires an individual to execute a range of basic technical and semi-skilled work across different trades; this position collaborates with more experienced maintenance personnel to carry out preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks that necessitate advanced knowledge and skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently evaluates conveyor systems; performs cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs to mechanical systems related to mail processing, mail handling, and building equipment; undertakes tasks such as search for mail and resolving jams.
- Conducts basic repairs on electrical circuits, motors, and lighting fixtures; assembles, deconstructs, and repairs equipment or furniture; carries out minor painting tasks and lends support in larger painting projects.
- With guidance from skilled maintenance team members, identifies and rectifies issues, performs the adjustment or relocation of machinery or systems, disassembles equipment, and swaps out components.
- Keeps a vigilant eye on equipment performance, particularly monitoring for excessive heat, vibration, or noise; communicates any noted malfunctions, dangers, or wear to the manager.
- Transport tools, equipment, or materials as needed in the execution of regular responsibilities.
- Completes or starts work documentation as necessary. Keeps up with required records and takes measurements from various monitoring tools.
- Adheres to prescribed safety protocols while carrying out all duties.
- Utilizes the necessary hand and power tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment as required in the course of assigned tasks.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as directed.
OVERSIGHT:
Reports directly to the supervisor of the respective unit.
