POSITION: Behavior Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrate understanding and patience with diverse student populations
  • Model appropriate behavioral interventions
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Create and utilize instructional materials to support student success
  • Work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
  • Assist in developing and implementing data collection systems
  • Help implement Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Support students with special needs and challenging behaviors
  • Provide assistance in various educational settings throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with school and district staff as needed
  • Participate in student assessments and IEP meetings
  • Maintain accurate documentation

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework
  • Ability to work with students with disabling conditions
  • Capacity to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Skills in developing effective relationships and teamwork
  • Knowledge of child growth and behavior management strategies
  • Ability to use a variety of equipment and tools
  • Physical ability to lift and move objects
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Capacity to deal with a variety of people and situations

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Director of Exceptional Children

FSLA STATUS: Non-exempt
