GENERAL SUMMARY:

Join our team in delivering perioperative patient care during the intraoperative phase, taking on scrub and circulating roles. Serve a diverse population ranging from neonates to geriatric patients.

Access and handle restricted patient information in compliance with Mercy Medical Center Security Policies.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently handle scrubbing and circulating duties during surgical cases.
  • Efficiently prepare for surgical procedures, ensuring the needs of patients and medical team are met.
  • Maintain a safe environment through adherence to aseptic techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Stay updated on equipment setup and functionality.
  • Lead room clean up and turnover processes.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in training new staff members.
  • Assist in maintaining resource materials.
  • Utilize computers for surgical documentation.
  • Engage in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Attend department meetings and inservices.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Iowa.
  • Preference for Operating Room experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
  • Mandatory Reporter abuse training completion.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
