Location: Melrose Park, IL
Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team for the school year in Melrose Park, IL. As a vital member of our educational community, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech and language disorders. Your dedication to helping students communicate effectively and reach their full potential will contribute to the success of our school community.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate speech and language disorders among students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the communication needs of students.
- Provide direct therapy services to students with speech and language disorders, both in individual and group settings.
- Implement evidence-based intervention strategies to address speech articulation, language comprehension, fluency, and other communication challenges.
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection, adjusting therapy plans as needed to support growth and development.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate speech and language goals into the academic curriculum and classroom activities.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on effective communication strategies and accommodations for students with speech and language disorders.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, to review student progress and contribute to goal-setting and decision-making processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, progress reports, and communication with stakeholders.
- Stay current on best practices, research, and trends in the field of speech-language pathology, and participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Illinois state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and techniques used in speech-language pathology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to cultural competence and providing equitable services to students from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school community.
