Job Description:

The work completed by the grounds seasonal employees may include the following:

  • Operates vehicles and powered equipment; completes commercial mowing and snow removal; applies chemicals and spreads fertilizers, herbicides and soil amendments; mulches tree beds, plants trees and flowers; aerates and seeds landscaping; trims and prunes shrubs and trees; repairs soil erosion.
  • Performs various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation; uses a variety of small and large tools and operates a variety of light and medium duty equipment and attachments including: tractors, trucks, dump trucks, skid steer loader, water trucks, compact rollers, excavator, power broom, and snow removal equipment; performs general and routine maintenance of light and medium duty equipment; changes over from mowing equipment to snow equipment.
  • Performs basic maintenance duties such as painting, light plumbing, cleaning shop and equipment areas; builds, fixes, and maintains fencing; completes basic preventative maintenance on building/plant equipment.
  • Completes paperwork, timesheets and equipment logs using computerized system; follows purchasing card guidelines.

Compensation for internship is $15.00 per hour.

Job Requirements:

Must be a current student at an accredited university or college.
