Job opportunity at Choice in Learning Montessori PreschoolReporting to and supervised by the Site Director, the Head Teacher for Choice in Learning Montessori Preschool (CiL) is responsible for providing children the highest quality care and learning opportunities in a supportive Montessori philosophy of instruction. The Head Teacher provides supervision and training to staff at CiL who are dedicated to working with parents to support the personal growth and development of each child. By employing the Montessori philosophy in our teaching and care, the Head Teacher ensures each child is able to explore and learn at his or her own pace, fostering deep and meaningful learning. Finally, the Head Teacher works as an integral member of the Choice in Aging (CiA) leadership and management team who work to ensure we meet our goal of providing the highest quality of services which enable frail elders and adults with disabilities to meet CiA's mission of promoting dignity and independence for those in need.

Essential Duties:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Determine the educational needs of students and design classrooms to meet those needs.
  • Implement curriculum based on the Montessori Method of teaching.
  • Plan lessons on a daily basis and impart instruction in class in large, small, and individual groups.
  • Ensure each student understands the instruction being imparted in class.
  • Assist students who may have difficulty with learning in class.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 12 ECE + Montessori credential (AMS or AMI, AMS preferred).
  • 12 ECE includes: (3) Child, Family and Community, (3) Child/Human Growth, Development, and (6) Curriculum.
  • The units specified shall include courses covering child growth and development; child, family and community; and program/curriculum.
  • A teacher shall complete 16 hours of health and safety training, first aid, and CPR.

Please Note:
Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Job Type: Full-TimeMonday-Friday (Closed on all major holidays)Hourly Rate: $20 - $24 per hour

Choice in Aging (CiA) has been providing services to the community's frailest people since 1949, when it was created by volunteers to serve children severely disabled by Polio. Over the years, the organization has provided a wide variety of programs, with the goal of promoting dignity and independence of people with disabilities and special needs. Our mission is to create opportunities where people can learn, grow, and age independently with dignity in community.Program HistoryAdult Day Health Care (ADHC) is a program that was created in California in 1978 in response to a need to have an alternate solution to institutionalization. The program mirrors the skilled nursing staffing model, but is based in the community and typically operates during the day on weekdays. It is akin to a senior center for those who can no longer attend a senior center independently. It is especially beneficial for those who need additional support to do things like ambulate, eat, toilet, participate in activities and more. Staff provides therapeutic activities disguised as fun throughout the day, making socializing and exercising meaningful and pleasurable. This makes folks want to come back each day
