Job Description
Main Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Engage with patients during clinic visits and perform various clinical tasks, including vital sign collection and medication verification.
- Prepare for office hours by organizing charts, scheduling tests, and setting up exam rooms.
- Assist with examinations, procedures, and lab tests as needed.
- Support medication renewals and authorizations as per department guidelines.
- Administer medications under physician or nurse practitioner supervision.
- Manage patient flow and special procedures, handle phone messages, and liaise with appropriate personnel.
- Coordinate care activities such as calling patients with results and scheduling appointments.
- Ensure accurate documentation and provide basic information to patients and their families.
- Complete medical record entries following Washington University protocols.
- Maintain inventory levels, clean and restock exam rooms, and sterilize instruments.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and participate in training and education programs.
- Meet OSHA and regulatory standards, engage in quality improvement initiatives, and perform assigned duties diligently.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- At least two years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy, along with experience in EMR systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with six months of related experience.
- Basic Life Support certification.
