What to Expect in this Role:
  • Manage underwriting direction and leadership to assess risk acceptability on complex work.
  • Assist in analyzing and evaluating risks to make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Responsible for staffing, training, development, and performance management.
  • Build strong relationships with sales staff, agents, and external partners.
  • Analyze business books for growth opportunities and profitability enhancement.
  • Coach team members in setting and achieving professional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to underwriters to write profitable business within established authority.
  • Manage binding authorities for all roles within the company.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve department and company goals.
  • Oversee reinsurance placement and negotiate with reinsurers.
  • Identify underwriting issues and provide recommendations.
  • Assist in setting underwriting goals and budget.
  • Travel to build and maintain business relationships.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) designation.
  • 7+ years of experience in property and casualty insurance.
  • Self-directed and open to opportunities for improvement.
  • Expertise in underwriting function and insurance principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Desire for personal growth and learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coach others.

Compensation:

Minimum: USD $110,400.00/Year

Maximum: USD $153,200.00/Year
