POSITION PURPOSE
As an Examiner, you'll conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans seeking disability compensation from the VA.
This role involves assessing injuries, reviewing medical records, and offering medical opinions to support Veterans.
Working remotely, each Examiner contributes significantly to enhancing the Veteran experience.
These Examinations play a critical role in determining the benefits Veterans receive for service-related health issues.
Your insights help connect Veterans with essential treatment, ensuring continuous care when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough Medical Disability Examinations for Veterans, including physical assessments and evaluating disabilities' impact on daily life.
Analyze Medical Records:
Review and assess medical records to understand Veterans' health conditions accurately.
Render Objective Medical Opinions:
Provide unbiased medical opinions based on examination findings and diagnostic results.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals:
Partner with specialists to gather additional medical information for a comprehensive evaluation.
Document Examination Findings:
Record examination results and recommendations following VA guidelines.
- Ensure Compliance and Quality:
Adhere to all disability examination standards, ensuring accuracy and fairness.
Maintain Confidentiality:
Safeguard patient information and examination results with strict confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Licensing:
Physician Assistant license with a Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Experience:
Previous experience in disability examinations preferred, along with Basic Life Support certification.
Specialized Training:
Completion of training in medical disability evaluations or related fields is advantageous.
Clinical Skills:
Proficiency in medical assessments and interpreting diagnostic tests.
Empathy and Compassion:
Approach patients with empathy and respect for a patient-centered evaluation.
Analytical Abilities:
Strong analytical skills to interpret complex medical information objectively.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey medical concepts clearly.
Ethics and Integrity:
Uphold ethical standards and maintain objectivity in evaluations.
Detail-oriented with a customer-focused approach.REASONING ABILITIES:
Apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.
TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITY:
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Outlook, and using web-based platforms and medical records systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, sit, and work on a computer comfortably, with some lifting required.
Engage in physical examinations effectively and safely.
