Responsibilities

-Perform angiograms, digital angiography, specialized radiologic procedures under the supervision of an angiography radiologist. Prepare, position patients for procedure, and operate complex specialized radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment.
-Provides emergency angiographic services on standby 24 hours a day.
-Operate complex radiographic equipment in a special suite with a high degree of technical skill.
-Assist physician specialists in sterile invasive procedures.
-Responsible for equipment, supplies, and inventories in special rooms.
-Administer contrast agents under the direction of a radiologist.
-Proficient in handling emergency medical situations.
-Evaluate equipment malfunctions and report to proper authority.
-Assist in the instruction and training of students; technical resource for residents.
-Perform other related duties such as staff radiologic technologist, clerical tasks, and patient transportation.
-Maintain work areas in a neat and clean environment.
-Schedule exams in angiography, answer phones, and organize films for copying or digitizing.

Essential Functions:
-Ability to be mobile and have normal manual dexterity.
-Must be able to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and by telephone with staff, physicians, and patients.
-Assist, move, transfer, and lift patients.
-Ability to move standard radiological equipment.
-Ability to plan, follow directions, and problem solve.
-Ability to teach and instruct.
-Knowledge of hospital and radiology computer systems.

Working Conditions:
Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards. Subject to patient illnesses, communicable diseases, and blood-borne pathogens.

Orientation Requirements:
All employees are required to participate in new employee orientation.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
-Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
-Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
-Must complete training under a special procedure radiologist for one year.
-Technician Radiologic Technologist specializing in Vascular-Intrvn Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.

Education:
Associates level degree in radiologic technology is preferred.

Work Experience:
-Requires three years experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
-Must possess analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and guest relations to effectively interact with patients, staff, physicians.
