Summary

The main goal of this role is to conduct maintenance, repairs, and makeover tasks on different types of vehicles such as automobiles, trucks, tractors, and others. These vehicles have gasoline and diesel engines, as well as various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, computer-assisted, and electronically controlled systems.

Duties

  • Replace various components like solenoids, relays, control modules, water pumps, fuel injectors, spark plugs, brake pads, wheel bearings, ball joints, and more.
  • Service and inspect air conditioning systems, flush radiators, align cars and trucks, and recharge AC systems.
  • Assist with or prepare reports, requisition supplies, maintain neatness and organization in the work area, and handle parts inventory.
  • Ensure cleanliness, order, and safety in the work area, including immediate spill cleanup.

  • U.S. Citizenship mandatory.
  • Background check required.
  • Compliance with Selective Service Registration Act for males.
  • Direct Deposit: Participation in Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program needed.
  • Driver's License: Must operate motor vehicles and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Vehicle Operation: May need to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.
  • Uniform: Mandatory uniform adherence and compliance with National Park Service standards.
  • Government Housing: Possibility of government quarters occupancy.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must demonstrate the ability to work independently as an Automotive Worker, performing various repair tasks in the automotive repair shop and field, using diagnostic skills and common tools.

Volunteer Experience: Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, enhances skills and can be valuable.

Education

No substitution of education for experience in Wage Grade (WG) positions.
