POSITION PURPOSE AND EXAMPLES OF WORK:
To provide and perform advanced and professional social services work including conciliation services and parent awareness instruction: assist in, program development and coordination of resource services activities within the family court judicial process.

25% Perform physicals, standard testing, and triage medical complaints.

  • Conduct general medical assessments of youth which involves taking vital signs, administering screenings, administering, and interpreting tests (such as urinalysis and TB), and developing health history.
  • Assess specific medical illness, complaint, injury, or need of youth to determine condition, which may involve examinations.
  • Administer medication, and/or care and treatment in accordance with approved nursing techniques, which may involve referral to a physician, hospital, or clinic.
  • Order and monitor medical supplies, equipment, and medication.
  • Travel to hospitals, or clinics for test results, prescriptions, and other matters.
  • Keep abreast of public health requirements and current medical trends and developments.
25% Administer and document medication distribution.
  • Maintain all documentation associated with medication administration.
  • Order medications from pharmacies, and per physician's orders.
  • Prepare and maintain health histories and all related medical records.
  • Provide Medication Aide Certification training to ensure competency of staff to administer and document medications, recognize adverse reactions, etc.
  • May package and dispense prescription medication.
25% Coordinate medical services with physicians, parents, and Case Management Officers.
  • Confer with physicians, hospital staff, and other health professionals regarding youth's health and coordinate all aspects of health care needs.
  • Discuss health care needs or medical condition of youth with parents/guardians, and Case Management Officers, to ensure proper follow-up care and medical concerns/interventions.
15% Schedule and prepare for medical clinics with physicians.
  • Schedule medical appointments and clinics, and assist physicians during treatment or examination.
SUPERVISION OF: None.
SUPERVISION BY: Facility Manager, or Assistant Facility Manager.

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITY:
INTERNAL: Provide medical certification, first aid, CPR, and standard precautions/bloodborne pathogens training to staff. Monitor for re-certification training.
EXTERNAL: Provide medical services to youth. Responds to requests for a range of services/products.

PRIMARY EQUIPMENT, TOOLS & MATERIALS USED: Telephone, computer, keyboard and printer, court orders, various brochures and publications, case files, statistical data, computer-generated and handwritten forms and reports, personal vehicle, and cell phone.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience; experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved School of Professional necessary to obtain an LPN license as stated under special requirements.
EXPERIENCE: 6 months of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinical setting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum age requirement is 25 years old.
  • Current state Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) licensure.
  • Must have the ability to attain valid certification to instruct in first aid/CPR procedures and medical certification, and provide proof of such.
  • Must submit to and pass sex offender registry check, and MO/KS child abuse & neglect checks.
  • Must submit to and pass a criminal background check as prescribed by the Court.
  • All applicants for this position are subject to testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Employees in this position are subject to random and reasonable suspicion testing for illegal drug use.
  • Final employment offer is dependent on successfully passing a physical exam and physical abilities performance testing.
