EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL FIVE (5) CURRENT FULL-TIME WEST JEFFERSON VACANCIES, ONE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE SERVICES AND FOUR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAMS.

This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.


KIND OF WORK:

The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve all food as assigned by the Food Service Manager or Dietician (or Cook II in absence of Food Service Manager or Dietician) in compliance with sanitation procedures.

This position is responsible for preparing, cooking, baking and serving meals and snacks in an institutional kitchen, working from a prepared menu and established recipes.

Work is subject to review by means of inspection of the kitchen, quality of food served, and analysis of food costs.

Work is performed under close supervision of the Cook II and Food Service Manager. Operates standard cooking equipment such as mixers, steam cookers, food choppers, ovens, and ranges.

Performs various cleaning duties to include:

dishes and utensils, floors, refrigerators, and other equipment, storeroom, eat in areas, etc Handles related duties to include: stocking shelves, monitoring refrigerator temperature, setting tables, moving and storing food and supply inventory.

Provides assistance to the Cook II and Food Service Manager, and performs related work as required.

For the current vacancy in the Juvenile Services Department, this position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or her designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; plus, must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and the ability to perform manual work
