Job Summary:


The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a GI Medical Oncologist with interest in clinical or translational research in gastrointestinal malignancies to join our faculty.

This position would be active in multidisciplinary GI oncology programs including pancreas, liver, colorectal, esophagus and precision medicine.

The academic clinician will engage in active collaborative research and build clinical and/or translational research in the division and obtain/maintain independent extramural funding.

Duties include direct patient care, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service; (60%)

  • Duties also include outreach service at approved UW Health locations, as well as inpatient call coverage.
  • Includes protected time, (40%) to develop a research program, develop a teaching program and to engage in scholarly activities.
  • Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of your clinical practice
  • Proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants


The successful candidate will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.

An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.


Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus.

Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites. We are a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and

Oncology (WAHO).


The Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Division is active in all phases of cancer research, from prevention, screening, cancer therapy, development and evaluation, survivorship and palliative care.

MD, DO or equivalent required

Qualifications:

  • Clinical and research interest in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies required.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in Hematology/Medical Oncology, with significant clinical trial experience.
  • Candidates for associate rank (CHS) must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

License/Certification:
Required

ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification

Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Must have completed an accredited fellowship training program in Medical Oncology.

Must be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license.

Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary is negotiable, based on years and diversity of experience.

Additional Information:
Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Total compensation targets AAMC benchmarks by rank.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.

The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver.
