Medical Billing Specialist

Location: Flint, MI

Schedule: Full-time, 1st shift

Description:

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing billing inquiries, addressing concerns, and resolving discrepancies with patients. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations, along with providing financial, administrative, and clerical support.

Key Responsibilities/Competencies:

  • Handle overdue patient balances and address bad-debt accounts by following established procedures, reviewing account information, and communicating trends and issues to the Supervisor.
  • Prepare accounts for collection agency, process patient refunds, and manage Accounts Receivable on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall company performance and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with coding, billing, and documentation regulations.

Other duties include:

  • Post insurance payments manually and electronically
  • Verify accuracy of medical documents and assign appropriate codes
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills
  • Utilize software systems effectively and adhere to compliance protocols
  • Manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Apply analytical and problems-solving skills in daily tasks
  • Follow health and safety policies
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical environment
  • Experience in a physician's office, preferably in Urology
  • Knowledge of Allscripts PM is a plus
