Job Title: Head of Public Relations and Communications

Work Area: Marketing

Directly Reports To: Chief Marketing Officer

Exempt Status: Exempt

The Head of Public Relations & Communications will spearhead all strategic communications for both internal and external groups at Keesler Federal by formulating, overseeing, and executing communication tactics and PR blueprints that distinguish and reinforce our leading position within our markets. The responsibilities of this role will encompass supervising integrated communications efforts and events that enhance the credit union's reputation and brand while promoting positive interaction and perspectives among members, community partners, and staff.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Guides, develops, and incentivizes the PR and Communications squad, including senior content producers and PR associates. Accountable for organizing, assigning, and guiding tasks within the department. Conducts yearly performance assessments and regular coaching sessions with the marketing team. Collaborates with the entire marketing unit to bring harmony to marketing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communications
  • Supervise the establishment and implementation of a multi-year communications strategy supporting the long-terms aspirations of Keesler Federal.
  • Acting as a strategic communications consultant and create communication plans to convey the brand's long-term vision and yearly plans to propel business growth. The Director will cooperate with internal stakeholders on brand, product, and community development communications.
  • Create and develop a message architecture, stories, and proactive narratives to back messaging and talking points that set apart KFCU in the marketplace.
  • Formulate a Crisis Communication Strategy and govern crisis communications planning, response, and post-event management
External Communication
  • Media relations - supervise reputation management, proactive storytelling, thought leadership establishment, press releases, and media inquiries. Construct and maintain a media contact roster.
  • Collaborate with digital marketing and social squads to manage and track online reputation.
  • Administer executive media profiles and bios. Work with CEO and C-Suite to foster positive media stories and positions for Senior Leadership.
  • Manage awards submissions, conferences, and thought leadership gatherings
  • Direct annual meeting and annual report
Internal Communications
  • Oversee employee intranet and news outlets
  • Manage town halls and employee gatherings
  • Change management - devise strategies, secure stakeholder approval, and oversee communications for significant change initiatives
  • Accountable for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

Education:

Equivalency to a college degree (BS or BA in a related field).

Experience and Additional Requirements:
  • 8-10 years expertise in PR, media relations, corporate communications and/or public affairs
  • Demonstrated track record of efficient leadership
  • Superb communication, leadership, and team management skills; inclusive of the diplomacy and tact needed to address all levels of personnel and the public
  • Capacity to establish, lead, and motivate a high-performing, varied team
  • Ability to anticipate problems, handle crises, and control the narrative
  • Experience in change management and steering enterprise agendas.
  • Strategic thought and capability to define and implement marketing and communication strategies.
  • Experience in managing external stakeholders and nurturing the company's reputation.
  • Optimistic attitude, modest, open-minded, adaptable, and at ease working in a fast-paced, ambiguous ambiance.
Personal Skills:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Teams, Sharepoint, project management, and workflow management tools
  • Eloquent public speaking abilities and adept in crafting engaging Powerpoint presentations and narratives
  • Capacity to simplify complex information and express with concise and compelling written and verbal communications.
  • Digital proficiency, comfortable with social media, online channels, and communication methods
Interpersonal Skills:
  • A notable level of trust and diplomacy is necessary as well as ordinary courtesy and tact. Work entails extensive interaction with others and is generally of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve inspiring, influencing, or instructing others. External connections become crucial, and fostering strong relationships with other entities (businesses and/or individuals) becomes vital and frequently calls for the ability to influence and/or offer ideas or services to others.
